Top Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 4

1) Tre Tucker

While Tre Tucker likely just had the best game he’ll have all season, and maybe in his career as the Raiders were forced to throw due to being down by so many points, his explosive 40-point Week 3 outing was the culmination of the Raiders constant involvement of Tucker throughout the first three weeks of the season.
Even prior to his monstrous Week 3, it was clear the Raiders were constantly trying to get him involved. In Week 2, he saw eight targets in addition to a rush attempt as the Raiders trying to devise ways to get the ball into the speedy playmaker’s hands the entire game.

Right now Tucker is a pure burner and could use some polishing as far as his route tree and complete receiver skillset, but on a Raiders team that looks like it will be forced to throw plenty this season, that role should warrant weekly WR3/flex value.
While most of this did come in one game, at the moment Tre Tucker ranks, among WRs:
- 6th in fantasy points
- 12th in yards per catch
- 15th in receiving yards
- Tied for 16th in receptions for 1st downs
- 23rd in average targeted air yards
- Tied for 29th in targets
Additionally, Tucker also sits at 11th in yards per target among WRs and 15th in the NFL.
Granted a lot of that is less about efficiency and more because he’s broken free for so many deep shots (33rd in ADOT), but those deep shots are in part due to his elite speed which will force the Raiders to keep dialing up a few plays for Tre every game.

Furthermore, his efficiency has been at minimum above average, and today he ranks 19th among receivers in passer rating when targeted as he’s averaging an 119 passer rating on his looks (per Pro Football Reference).
His red zone workload isn’t bad either as he ranks among the top-15 WRs in red zone target share as he’s accounted for 30% of the Raiders’ red zone targets so far.
Tucker’s overall volume has been at about a WR2 level too, and so far he’s been responsible for 20% of all of Las Vegas’ intended air yards in 2025.
Career highs across the board for Tre Tucker in Week 3:
8 catches
145 yards
3 TDs@1SilkySmooth | @Raiders pic.twitter.com/Ux87bdQJtB— NFL (@NFL) September 23, 2025
Finally, Tre Tucker has also played at least 90% of snaps in every game, including tying Jacoby Myers for the team lead with 94% last week.
2) Matthew Stafford

Matt Stafford is currently available in over 60% of ESPN leagues, and that is astounding considering the injuries to Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, and JJ McCarthy combined with the inconsistent play we’ve seen from the fringe or previously-promising waiver-wire QBs (looking at you Russ).
Matthew Stafford & Dan Marino are the greatest God-given throwers of the football that have ever lived.
Like you would write about in a textbook.

Speaking as someone who drafted Burrow and has yet to get their quarterback to score ten fantasy points this season, you could do much worse than a proven vet like Stafford who gets to throw to Adams and Nacua who’s also scored at least 13 fantasy points in every game so far and ranks among the top eight QBs in average air yard differential. and in completion percentage above expectation.
Today, Stafford ranks:
- 17th in fantasy points
- 3rd in shortest time to throw
- 5th in average completed air yards
- Tied for 7th in passing TDs
- Tied for 10th in completions
- 12th in QBR & passer rating
Stafford has shown throughout this season that he still has his trademarked arm talent and can zip any pass through any window, and we might be seeing the best version of the Rams offense flourish under Sean McVay, as an argument can be made prime Te + prime Puka is a better combination than prime Kupp and prime Puka.
It’s only Week 3 and I fully expect the Stafford-Adams connection to continue to grow.
Rams go play action. The offensive line gives Stafford enough time in the pocket for the route to develop. When they do that, good things happen. pic.twitter.com/qln0xfoHTa

Stafford has also cut down on his often league-leading INT% and is currently in the top half of QBs when it comes to TD% and lowest INT%. He’s third in passing success rate as well.
Both he and his receivers have been remarkably efficient this year too, and right now Stafford ranks among the top-10 QBs in yards per attempt, yards per completion, and net yards per attempt (per Pro Football Reference).

Moreover, the Rams incredible run scheme is opening up the entire field, and Stafford is one of the best play action QBs in the league and today he is second to only Justin Herbert in passing yards off of play action.
3) Tyquan Thornton

At the moment, Tyquan Thornton is tied with Hollywood Brown for the Chiefs’ leader in receiving yards, and he’s done so on 10 less targets.
Thornton is clearly this team’s deep threat, especially with Worthy out, and that role has finally been paying off as he’s scored a touchdown and at least 13 fantasy points each of the past two weeks.
Tyquan Thornton has resurrected his career in KC. One acrobatic catch at a time.
pic.twitter.com/hIWt4sUKyH— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 22, 2025
Among 2025 WRs so far, Thornton ranks:
- 27th in fantasy points
- Tied for 2nd in yards per catch
- Tied for 9th in catches for 20+ yards
- 16th in passer rating when targeted (120.4)
- 22nd in yards per target
- 26th in receiving yards
It appears Thornton is for now functioning as the Chiefs’ WR1, as he trails only Hollywood Brown in total snaps and he actually led all Chiefs in snap share in Week 3.
As long as both Rashee Rice and Worthy are out, Thornton will have weekly flex consideration for 12-team or deeper leagues; however, both are expected to return over the next two weeks so it remains to be seen what Thornton’s role will be in a fully-healthy Kansas City offense.
Tyquan Thornton is a legitimate weapon now. How soon before the universe stops making us pay for 20 years of greatness?
— Jerry Thornton (@jerrythornton1) September 22, 2025
Assuming Worthy is still either out or limited next week, Thornton can be considered a boom or bust flex play in deep leagues, especially considering he ranks 11th in yards per touch as of this writing and leads the NFL in average targeted air yards.
The final statistic leaning in Thornton’s favor?
So far this season he has been responsible for an unbelievable 50% of all the Chiefs’ air yards (per Next Gen Stats) which ranks sixth in the NFL and for context is only 9% shy of Malik Nabers’ league-leading air yards share.
