Top 10 Quarterbacks Entering the Season

1. Aaron Rodgers

Yes, Aaron Rodgers is still the best quarterback in the league. If you are someone who follows Barstool Sports, TMZ, Deadspin, or any variation of sports reporting that reports on Aaron Rodgers’ personal life, you know that this guy might be a douche nozzle (maybe even a gay douche nozzle).

At Aaron Rodgers’ peak play in any given season, he has the best accuracy of any quarterback in the league, the best overall arm of any QB in the league, and a sneaky combination of speed and athleticism that puts him in the conversation for one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the league.

 

2. Tom Brady

So if you are not a Pats fan you definitely hate the shit outta this guy. Despite Brady’s lack of popularity amongst fans, he remains a top 5 quarterback in this league year in and year out. Aaron Rodgers barely edged out Brady for the top spot on the list simply because of the mobility factor. Sidenote: If you doubt Rodgers has the same accuracy as Brady then I encourage you to rewatch the throw he made to Jared Cook to set up the game winning field goal in the playoffs last season.

 

3. Drew Brees

Bress is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league in terms of the attention and recognition he gets from the national media. The guy shreds defenses every season. His only problem is his defense can’t stop teams from walking into the end zone 8 times a game.

 

4. Matt Ryan

The 2016 Falcons and everyone on it will never escape the fact that they were part of the biggest choke job the modern NFL has ever seen. However, the rest of the NFL will never (at least for this season) escape the fact that Matt Ryan continues to be an elite quarterback. With the weapons of Julio Jones, Taylor Gabriel, Devonta Freeman, and Tevin Coleman, Matt Ryan will put up gaudy numbers again in 2017.

 

5. Phillip Rivers

Earlier I said Drew Brees is the most underrated QB in the league. If that is true then Phillip Rivers is the second most underrated quarterback in the league. Rivers has been a top 10 quarterback virtually every season of his career due to his accuracy and decision making.\

6. Derek Carr

Derek Carr looks like he’s a white supremacist who loves chewing tobacco almost as much as he loves drinking moonshine. Unfortunately for the rest of the NFL, he also loves disassembling defenses. Interestingly enough, it currently looks as though Carr is the best QB to come out of the 2014 draft. Blake Bortles, Teddy Bridgewater, and America’s favorite coke addict–Johnny Manziel–were all drafted before Carr in 2014.

 

7. Ben Roethlisberger

Everyone’s favorite fat-guy-who-maybe-raped-somebody-in-an-airport-bathroom comes in at #7 because he has an absolute cannon and pretty good accuracy.

 

8. Matt Stafford

Stafford has always had superior arm talent, accuracy, and quarterbacking acumen. This offseason he got more money to play in the NFL than anyone has ever gotten. Even if he flames out tomorrow, he’ll have the last laugh.

 

9. Andrew Luck

Statistically, Luck does not deserve to be in the same conversation with the rest of the QBs on this list. But if you actually watch him play when he is healthy you will see why he comes in at 9 here. At his peak, Luck has Cam Newton’s mobility (they actually both ran 4.6 forty yard dashes at the combine once) and Drew Brees’ accuracy.

 

10. Cam Newton

Cam is a once-in-a-generation athlete. The only reason he isn’t 2 or 3 on this list is because he still occasionally struggles with accuracy, decision making, and consistency. He still has a relatively difficult time giving up on a play and throwing the ball away.
