Just when you thought Howie Roseman was done, he pulls another rabbit out of the hat. This time, he fills the much needed question mark at the Running Back position. For the eagles, this was a running back position that has really been desolate since Chip Kelly traded away Shady McCoy for Kiko Alonso. So who did we get? Well, a hard-nose rusher that just so happens to be two time Super Bowl Champion, LeGarrette Blount. This signing pretty much guarantees that Ryan Matthews will NOT be back next year for the Birds.
Was there a free agent this year that was a better fit for Philadelphia than LeGarrette Blount? This hard nosed rusher doesn’t take crap from anyone. He was a little immature in college, but has transformed into a well-rounded young man after turning pro. He is the type of rusher and veteran presence that the Eagles need on their team. If you have any doubts about that, watch this clip:
The happiest man in Philadelphia must be Carson Wentz. In a matter of months, the off season has turned the Eagles offense from trash to treasure. Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews has turned into Alshon Jefferey, Torrey Smith and Jordan Matthews while an injury-riddled, inconsistent backfield has turned up LeGarrette Blount. The only drawback is that the Eagles are relying on winning… now! Both Blount and Jefferey are signed to one year deals, with no guarantees that they’ll resign. Still, I’ll take these deals over anything the Eagles offense did last year. Carson Wentz finally has some weapons and can prove that he is the best Rookie Quarterback in his class. Good job, Howie!
